Islington is just a few kilometres from the centre of Newcastle in close proximity to Hamilton, Wickham, Maryville and Tighes Hill.
Around 1500 residents live in the area, and more than 70 businesses operate there. Among them you’ll find a treasure trove of antique stores, second hand clothes shops, and fantastic cafes, including the much loved Suspension Coffee and Peaberrys.
Islington Park, with its magnificent avenue of fig trees, hugs the banks of Throsby Creek, which feeds into the Hunter River in Newcastle Harbour.
A shared cycling and walking path connects the park to bike lanes running to the University of Newcastle in the west and to Newcastle CBD in the east.
Islington Park has a fantastic playground, which was upgraded in 2012, making it a popular spot for families and it also boasts one of Newcastle’s best off-leash areas.
